When we were contacted by a local HVAC company about helping them bid a new project, we knew it was going to be close. When first contacting our sales team, our preliminary report starts with the phone call. Being able to accurately gauge the scope of a project is paramount in making the correct decisions when it comes to crane selection. Speaking with the customer is an art within itself. Being able to elicit the information that you need to begin the selection takes years of understanding. What some customers may think is the most relevant information is not always the case. Often things like setup space is overlooked. It is Dependable Crane’s responsibility to determine if there is suitable space for crane setup as well as auxiliary equipment space. Once satisfied with the scope of the project and then determined by the sales team to require a site visit, we take to the streets. We will arrange a time and location to meet. Photos will be taken of the setup location and measurements will be pulled to ensure the crane will fit.
If work is done on the roof, we also photograph and measure the distances to ensure accurate reaches for the crane. Often old hardware that needs to be removed will not have weights posted. For equipment like that, phone calls are made to experts to help identify weights of equipment. Dependable crane has avoided quite a few situations where, on first glance, a smaller crane would have been appropriate. Especially when newer equipment is far more efficient and lighter. Without the extra steps involved in tracking down sometime defunct equipment manufacturers, jobs could quickly become overbudget. Once the information is thoroughly tracked and the sales team is confident, we produce a lift plan. Our skilled team can import photos of the area along with scale and produce 1:1 representations of the site. Sometime this is achieved using satellite imagery, sometime with site plans supplied by the customer.
All these steps may seam like a lot of work, but they are necessary to the safe completion of any projects. Errors, even minimal ones, can cost 10’s of $1000’s in lost revenue. Making sure everything is correct is vital pre planning that Dependable Crane takes very seriously. We say here at that Execution of the crane lift is the easy part. It is the vast pre-planning that is the real customer service. Its where Dependable crane shines and we do it because we love it. All the work done can sometime result in a lift that only takes 15 minutes. Customer safety and satisfaction is always number 1 at Dependable Crane.
